A Program of the

Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital

St. Luke’s Hospital, a part of the Mount Sinai Health System, is located in Morningside Heights and has served the Upper West Side and West Harlem neighborhoods since 1896.   It was built specifically on land in northern Manhattan that would provide uninterrupted light and fresh air to promote health and recovery for those who are ill.  St. Luke’s Hospital has a rich and innovative history with the first hospital orthopedic department in NYC, the first hospital-based hospice program in the US, creation of a rape intervention program in 1977 which later grew into the Crime Victims Treatment Center and in 1983, becoming a designated Trauma Center.  St. Luke’s Hospital is a teaching affiliate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.  The Trauma Program at St. Luke’s Hospital encompasses many different types of medical and surgical specialists who are necessary in the treatment of traumatic injuries.  As a trauma center, we provide the highest level of care in adherence to the American College of Surgeons guidelines with a trauma surgeon and a team of specialists around the clock.   The trauma team under the guidance of Dr. Raymond Wedderburn is committed to continuous monitoring and improvement of our care and response to trauma.  Trauma impacts every community with physical, emotional, financial and social reverberations.   St. Luke’s Hospital provides education and interventions for the prevention of trauma as well as resources for our patients and family members.
