      Yale New Haven Hospital was founded in 1826 as the first hospital in Connecticut and the fourth voluntary hospital in the nation.  Today, experienced physicians in the Yale School of Medicine, one of the leading academic medical centers in the nation, partner with the staff to deliver comprehensive and innovative care.  A 1,541 bed tertiary medical center, Yale New Haven Hospital is an institutional anchor in the community.  As a State designated and American College of Surgeons verified Level I Trauma Center, the Trauma program is an integral part of Yale New Haven Hospital.  Our patients present with injuries that require complex and collaborative efforts from a wide variety of specialists. Our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to ensuring our trauma patients experience the best outcomes possible.
