Physical Therapy (PT)

Some people with pain are referred to a physical therapist by their doctor. The goal of physical therapy is to help relieve pain while restoring movement and function. Some of the techniques used in physical therapy are stretching, strengthening exercises, and low-impact aerobic exercise. Exercise and stretching can help reduce pain and increase function, but is important to remember to pace your activity level. Doing too much, too soon, can make pain worse. Heat/ice packs, TENS units, and other therapeutic modalities are also used to promote healing and reduce pain.
