Jefferson Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia is a 548-bed tertiary-care teaching hospital located in the Logan section of North Philadelphia.  The hospital has an accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Trauma Center and one of the busiest emergency departments in Philadelphia. 

As a Level 1 Trauma Center, Jefferson Einstein Hospital is designed to treat patients with the most critical injuries, providing expert urgent care to those who need it most. The Trauma and Critical Care team includes a staff of highly experienced trauma physicians and registered nurses led by division chair Dr. Pak Leung.

The trauma staff is supported by a medical team made up of:

  • Emergency medicine physicians
  • Trauma surgeons
  • Neurosurgeons
  • Anesthesiologists
  • Orthopedic surgeons
  • Cardiac surgeons
  • Radiologists
  • Specialized nurses
  • ED Techs

As a teaching hospital, Jefferson Einstein’s physicians, residents, nurses and students work together to provide the best patient outcome. Additionally, Jefferson Einstein offers community prevention activities to reduce the incidence of accidents and injuries. These include Stop the Bleed, Trauma Intervention Program (TIP), Intimate Partner Violence Counseling services, fall prevention programs, Think First Injury Prevention, and injury/safety awareness.

The Jefferson Einstein Trauma Center treats a number of injuries, including:

  • Traumatic injuries from automobile, bicycle and motorcycle collisions
  • Penetrating trauma
  • Injuries caused by accidents and falls
  • Injuries resulting from assault
