Mission Hospital

Mission Emergency and Trauma Care

Mission Health’s Emergency Services includes western North Carolina’s designated Level II Trauma Center at Mission Hospital, ground transportation by Regional Transport Services (RTS) and air transport provided by Mountain Area Medical Airlift (MAMA) with both able to provide transport for neo-natal patients, and select telehealth specialties at regional hospitals with medical direction provided by specialists based at Mission Hospital. All member hospitals except Asheville Specialty Hospital have Emergency Departments staffed 24 hours a day.

Trauma & Acute Care Surgery

The Trauma & Acute Care Surgery and Orthopedic Trauma Service physicians of Mission Hospital are here to treat the most severely injured patients from the region. These two surgical services are staffed with board certified, highly skilled, quality focused, compassionate physicians and midlevel providers. Mission Hospital is the only designated Trauma Center in western North Carolina. Our regional trauma system was established to ensure that people with serious injury receive appropriate stabilization, transport and high quality trauma care. From first responders and community hospitals to the trauma center and rehabilitation facilities, our region has a robust coordinated network of providers. By working together, we provide exceptional trauma care every hour of every day.

Orthopedic Trauma

Mission Hospital is the only designated trauma center in western North Carolina (State designated Level II Trauma Center).

As a designated trauma center, Mission Hospital accepts all trauma patients from the region. Regional hospital referrals are accepted by Mission's Emergency Department physicians on behalf of the Trauma Surgeons. Injured patients may also arrive via EMS or self referral from anywhere in the region.
