As Vermont's only Level I Trauma Center-and the first in the U.S. to be verified for both children and adults-you can be assured that you and your family have access to the most advanced trauma surgery and surgical critical care available in the event of a serious injury or accident.

 

Located in Burlington, the University of Vermont Medical Center serves the communities of Northern New York and Vermont.

As a Level I Trauma Center, we meet or exceed strict national standards in providing the highest level of specialty care to trauma patients. As a referral center, we provide advanced-level trauma surgery and critical care, around the clock, 365 days a year, for any type of emergency. We care for approximately 1,000 trauma victims each year-people who have been critically injured in car, hunting or skiing accidents, as well as fires, drownings or shootings, among other incidents.
