NSAIDs are mostly used for mild to moderate acute pain. They may be used for injuries such as strains, sprains, headaches, arthritis, and soft tissue damage. They interfere with the making of pain-producing chemicals in the body. This type of medication may also be used with an opioid drug in order to reduce the required dose of the opioid.
