Soft Tissue Mobilization

Soft tissue mobilization is a manual technique used by a therapist to treat soft tissue dysfunction such as pain or reduced tissue mobility. A therapist applies pressure to soft tissue through various movements of the hand and fingers such as gliding, kneading, deep friction, percussion, rolling, or sustained stretching. Mobilization is used to restore tissue strength and mobility, decrease tension and spasm, increase blood flow, remove adhesions and scar tissue, and reduce pain and discomfort.
