Financial Problems

As the population is aging and healthcare costs are rising, many are finding themselves without the necessary funds to support themselves financially. The majority of senior living centers or nursing homes are not paid for by medical insurance. Without proper financial planning, many elderly people cannot afford such living arrangements. If their need for supervision and medical care is high, but their financial state is poor, they may chose to stay in a residential home. Family members, friends, or associates might feel the burden to look after the elderly person is too heavy. This additional commitment in time and money may strain the relationship, increase stress and guilt, and lead to abusive situations.
