Elderly

Risk factors for elderly adults include lack of lower body strength, balance, and poor eyesight. Medications that may cause dizziness or affect balance may also increase the risk of a fall. Most falls occurring at home are due to uneven and slippery surface areas, improper lighting, and lack of gripping handle bars to reduce or eliminate the impact of the fall. Easy home safety strategies can reduce falls in the home. These techniques can also be used in nursing homes and during daily activities outside the home.
