A Program of the

Employment and Return to Work

It is important for individuals, who have had a significant medical problem necessitating absence from work, to return to work safely. In order to be able to return to work, some people may require special equipment, custom devices, particular medications, job coaching, or even special workplace accommodations. The need for special equipment and/or accommodations can be determined by an on-site job analysis, a functional capacity evaluation (FCR), or a workplace ergonomic assessment. Also, many individuals go through a work rehabilitation program before returning to work

For individuals with disabilities, who would like to return to work, but cannot perform the work they have done in the past, vocational rehabilitation (VR) programs are available. These services are provided for by the Social Security Administration (SSA). VR programs include services that help people secure and maintain self-supporting employment.
